2023 Wrapped

2024 is a year for new beginnings for all but looking back at 2023 there were some brilliant things we should recap! Starting with trends like Stanleys, flared jeans, cargo pants, dark red, lululemon, the coquette style with bows, and Uggs. Uggs have been a big thing for a while and have gone in and out, but 2023 was a big year for Uggs, especially the Tasmanian Uggs. Stanleys have become extremely popular and now many people have them including kids, teens, and adults. The “coquette” style has been a big adjustment in clothes, hair, and makeup. Bows have been incorporated into this style and have been worn shoes, hair, and pets!

We saw some amazing movies and TV series in 2023 like the iconic movie, Barbie.  Barbie represents girlhood and women empowerment and the many challenges a woman has to go through in society. This movie was so beautiful and created many popular songs and showed the beauty of girls and how we all are gorgeous in our skin. Not only that but it shows the stereotypes that a girl has to follow like you can't be too skinny and you're unattractive if you're not. We don't deserve that because girls and women are beautiful and we don't have to be stereotypical Barbie. Another movie was The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes. This was another epic Hunger Games movie to add to the franchise. Wonka, The Eras Tour Movie, You Are So Not Invited to My Bat Mitzvah, The Little Mermaid, and The Super Mario Bros. movie were exceptional movies that stunned people. Some of the biggest TV shows of 2023 were My Life with the Walter Boys, Xo Kitty, The Summer I Turned Pretty (Season Two), and then Percy Jackson and the Olympians, which is still trending now and is getting people back into the books. My Life with the Walter Boys, Xo Kitty, and The Summer I Turned Pretty are great love triangle shows for you to watch. 

Music was also a big part of 2023 and one of the most successful singers was Taylor Swift. Taylor Swift became Time Magazine’s Person of the Year. She was the most listened to on Spotify and won the Grammy for Best Music Video for the All Too Well short film and the song Anti-Hero won at the VMAs. Some other popular artists were Bad Bunny, The Weekend, Drake, Peso Pluma, Feid, Travis Scott, SZA, KAROL G, and Lana Del Ray. These were the top artists in 2023 but there were some songs that these artists did not write that were admired like Flowers by Miley Cyrus, As It Was by Harry Styles, Seven (feat. Latto) by Jung Kook, Ella Baila Sola by Esla Armado and Peso Pluma, Creepin by Metro Boomin, The Weekend and 21 Savage, Calm Down by Rema and Selena Gomez, and Shakira: Bzrp Music Sessions, Vol. 53 by Bizarrap and Shakira. These songs had a big impact in 2023. Some playlists were made such as “Girl Dinner” This playlist was inspired by a TikTok trend “ Girl Diner.” This playlist included Cherry by Lana Del Ray, Champagne Problems by Taylor Swift, Deli by Ice Spice, Flowers by Miley Cyrus, and Peppers by Lana Del Ray (feat. Tommy Genesis). Some magnificent albums that were a big hit in 2023 were Un Verano Sin Ti, Midnights, SOS, Starboy, and MANANA SERA BONITA. Music has always been a great way for people to express themselves and have fun or get sad or angry emotions out. Music is therapy for some people and it's something that has been around for a while. The music industry had big accomplishments this year.    

2023 was a rollercoaster of ups and downs and I think it's a year that will be remembered
